Payment Dates

The Academic Year fee is paid in two part-payments (as shown in above tables). The first part-payment is due before 12:00pm (midday) on Tuesday, 21 August 2018. The second part-payment is due before Monday, 3 December 2018.

  • Payments must be made online
  • Payments can only be made by debit card or credit card
  • Unfortunately, it is not possible to facilitate bank transfers

Application Fee

When making an application for accommodation, a refundable application fee of €20 is payable. If successful in securing accommodation, this fee will be added to the booking deposit paid at the time of accepting your room offer and the total payments made will be credited to your account with us.

If, following initial random allocation and any subsequent offer rounds, an applicant has not been offered accommodation, this fee will be refunded. This refund will be processed in September once all accommodation offers have been made.

Booking Deposit

A total booking deposit of €250 is payable to secure your accommodation. This is made up of the previously paid application fee and a further payment of €230 which will be payable within a week of receiving an offer of confirmed accommodation.

If your accommodation application is successful, this booking deposit is held for the duration of your stay. This deposit is fully refundable less any deductions for damage or missing items at the end of your stay.

Having accepted an accommodation offer, if your application to NUI Galway is unsuccessful (or you choose not to attend NUI Galway), this booking deposit will be returned less an administration fee of €100, provided that our cancellation policy has been abided by (details can be found below).

Utilities Deposit

A €375 utilities deposit must be paid at the same time as your first part-payment (as outlined above).

This is a deposit payment against energy consumption. Every two months, a bill is issued, based on metered consumption, and applied on a pro-rata basis against occupants’ deposits. If the final amount incurred is greater than this amount, the student is liable for the difference. Any surplus will be refunded.

Cancellation Policy

If the licensee wishes to cancel or is unsuccessful in their application to NUI Galway, the licensee must cancel via the Student Portal by 12:00pm (midday) on Tuesday, 21 August 2018. Cancellations by telephone will not be accepted.

In the event of following the above cancellation procedure, €100 administration fee will be deducted from the booking deposit and the remainder refunded. Refunds will be issued by bank transfer only. If the applicant cancels after the cut-off point outlined above, no refund will be issued.

If the applicant cancels after having paid the first part-payment, the onus will be on the licensee to find a replacement applicant. Campus Living has no obligation to find an alternative licensee. Failure to do so will result in the applicant losing all monies paid.

Eviction or Early Departure

If a student is evicted, no refunds of rental will be made.

Rooms are licensed for the full Academic Year. Students are liable for this period even if they do not stay for all of it. In the case of early departure, the onus is on the student to find someone to take their room. Until a replacement has been found, the student will not be refunded.

Please note that when a student leaves, Campus Living management has the right to move another resident into that student’s vacant room. If this occurs, however, the student must still find a replacement for the room which is vacant.
